Montclair Country Club in West Orange, NJ. I enjoyed playing in the Yogi Berra Museum Celebrity Classic. Yogi Berra’s commitment to children, the tournament raises money for the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center, which offers culturally diverse educational programming designed to stimulate students’ interest in sports and its relationship to academic endeavors. Yogi was stationed on a 130 yrd PAR 3 and hit tee shots for every group that played through. He hit his driver great and the shot rolled to the back of the green. His eye hand coordination is a true testament to his athletic genius. It’s always humbling to be invited as a celebrity in his tournament. The Star studded field included, Current and past Yankees, Nick Swisher, Jaba Chamberlain, Joe Girardi, Mickey Rivers, Goose Gossage, Bill Skowran(Moose), Graig Nettles, Ron Guidry(Gator), former NFL and NHL players. Also in attendance was former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. If your ever in NJ you should visit the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning center. Current and past Olympians! On the right Liz McIntyre Silver medalist in the 1998 Winter Olympic games in Nagano, Japan. Center Michelle “Buckshot” Roark Medal contender in this years 2010 Olympics in Vacouver, Canada. Liz was the head technical coach of the US Freestyle Mogul team in 2006 when both Michelle and I competed in the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. I am currently working with Michelle to get her ready to compete in Vancouver on February 13.

By chance, I was seated next to Chris Lilly on the way to Denver, Colorado. I was looking through a golf magazine and we started talking. We soon realized that we had both been celebrities playing in the Bob Hope Classic. I don’t know much about cooking, but love good food–and it turns out Chris doesn’t know much about skiing. Chris is the executive chef and partner of Big Bob Gibson BBQ in Decatur, Alabama. He is also the Author of “Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ Book.” My wife and I have been doing the finishing touches on my book “22 Years for 22 Seconds” so it was fun talking about all the little details that are involved in creating a book.

I don’t know much about baseball but I know Yogi. When I tell people that I played with him in The Bob Hope Classic for a couple of years they are amazed. He happens to go way back with Leah and her family so it was even more fun. This is from 2009, in 2010 he didn’t play but was the Ambassador of the tournament.

Gary Valentine…hysterically funny. This is Leah and I with him at The Bob Hope Classic Jam. What a fun night! It was a late one and my golf suffered the next day. I played a practice round with he and Steve Azar earlier in the week. We are hoping to play together again soon, when our schedules match up.
